SketchUp teacher
I have been teaching SketchUp at Yrgo school in Lindholmen, 2 years running.
The course gives them a complete overview of the software capabilities. After barely 4 hours of teaching they were out there building their own version of this paper city.
That's how fast one can get their feet wet!
SketchUp is such an easy tool to learn and yet a very powerful one. When I showed the students this image and told them they would build something similar in their first day of using the software they all laughed, yet at the end of the day each and every one of them had built their own city!

Jean-Marc Fueri has held a course for us in Sketch Up.

They learned many tools, starting from drawing 2D shapes then turning them into 3D objects. From simple rectangles and circles they quickly built a town adding one building at a time while exploring and learning the interface and all the tools at their disposal.
With the help of the free plugin Visualizer for SketchUp we had a fully 3D rendered image within no time.
They then moved on to modeling their flat/house from memory and were given several assignments as we dug deeper and deeper in the software.
